Book Preview

It is Written: The Birth of a King is about a young man named Joseph and his wife Mary who is about to have a baby that will be the future King of Israel. When Jesus is born, the present king of Israel, Herod, is not happy that he will one day be replaced. After a visit from three wise men he creates a plan to have them find the baby Jesus so he can kill him. When the wise men find Jesus they have a dream to return home and not reveal the location of Jesus to Herod. King Herod is mad when he finds out and sends soldiers to kill all the babies in Bethlehem. The soldiers find Joseph's home but he has already escaped to Egypt. Herod eventually dies years later allowing Jesus and his family to return home to Israel.

Joseph
Joseph is a young carpenter from the tribe of Judah. He lives in the city of Nazareth but travels back to his hometown of Bethlehem to pay taxes.
Mary
Mary was the mother of Jesus who was visited by the angel in Bethlehem while baking bread. Mary is a very strong willed young woman and also very obedient to the God of Israel.
King Herod
King Herod The Great was an Edomite who was given the throne of Israel by the ruling Roman Empire. He was a very evil man who hurt anybody that got in his way.
The Wise Men
The wise men were spiritual elders who were awaiting the coming of the Christ, according to the prophets of old. They traveled with precious gifts to present to the King.
